Every circulating claim, its origin, who said it first and how far it travelled. Credibility is our rating and it moves only with evidence.
| Claim | Origin | Said it first | Date | Spread | Credibility |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The release date is 19 November 2026 On Rockstar’s own page and restated by Take-Two. The date has moved twice before, which is worth knowing, but nothing currently contradicts it. | Official product page and publisher statements | Rockstar Games | 27.08.2026 | Wide | Confirmed |
| PS5 Pro is a third launch platform Rockstar names two platforms and only two, on its own page and in its pre-order post: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. "PS5 Pro Enhanced" is a badge Sony applies on Sony’s store, which makes it Sony describing a Rockstar game, and a PS5 Pro is a PlayStation 5 in any case. The badge is real. The third platform is not. We printed the wrong version of this ourselves until 12 September 2026, stamped confirmed, which is the reason this entry exists rather than being quietly deleted. | A Sony store badge, read as a Rockstar platform announcement | Sony’s own product page | 27.08.2026 | Wide | Reported |
| Preload and physical copies open on 12 November 2026 Take-Two’s pre-order release says it in so many words: digital pre-orders "will be able to begin pre-loading on November 12, 2026", and the physical version, "containing a download code inside the box, will be available starting November 12, 2026 to support pre-loading". Until 17 October 2026 this entry said Rockstar had not stated it and stamped it reported. That was our miss: the publisher had said it since June, on its own investor site. No install size is published, and that part stays unknown. | Take-Two’s own pre-order press release | Take-Two Interactive | 24.06.2026 | Wide | Confirmed |
| A PC version arrives in February 2027 One account, which drew three replies from more than ninety contacts. Every repetition we checked leads back to that post, and several outlets cite each other rather than the origin. A different and better-sourced claim now exists, GamesBeat’s first quarter of 2027, and it has its own entry below. February sits inside that quarter, which is exactly why the two get merged in repetition. They have different origins and they are graded separately. | A single social post | One social post, account not identified | 20.08.2026 | Wide | Rumour |
| A PC version arrives in the first quarter of 2027 GamesBeat wrote on 13 October 2026 that Rockstar plans the PC version for the first quarter of 2027, "according to four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans, all of whom requested anonymity". Rockstar did not respond before publication and has said nothing since. A named publication putting its own name on the claim is what reported means here, and it is a step above the February post, which has no outlet behind it at all. It is not a confirmation: as of 17 October 2026 we found no PC version on Rockstar’s product page, in the ESRB listing or in Take-Two’s August pipeline table. Take-Two reports its next quarter on 9 November 2026, the next scheduled point where the publisher could say more. | A GamesBeat report citing four unnamed industry sources | GamesBeat | 13.10.2026 | Wide | Reported |
| GTA 6 ships with an online mode at launch Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has announced an online mode. We could not trace this to an origin, which is itself the finding. | Commentary and expectation, no traceable first source | No traceable first source. Commentary, repeated | 12.08.2026 | Moderate | Unknown |
| FiveM will officially support GTA 6 Rockstar has owned Cfx.re since August 2023. Ownership makes support possible; it is not a statement that support is planned. Neither party has said anything. | Inference from the Cfx.re acquisition | No single origin. Widely inferred from the 2023 acquisition | 14.08.2026 | Narrow | Unknown |
| The footage leaked in August 2026 is genuine GTA 6 gameplay Rockstar has never authenticated any of it, and a takedown is not an authentication. What supports the claim is circumstantial: the speed and breadth of the DMCA notices, reported the same day by outlets that watched them land. We do not host, mirror, link or describe the material, and we will not, whatever it turns out to be. That is a standing rule here and it is also what Rockstar’s published policy names first as a takedown trigger. | An account posting as CyberLeek, from 18 August 2026 | CyberLeek, via social media reposts | 18.08.2026 | Wide | Reported |
| Rockstar fired 34 workers for trying to unionise Two versions circulate and neither is complete. The union says the fired staff "weren’t leaking Rockstar secrets, they were talking about working conditions on a private Discord". Rockstar says they distributed confidential information. The court documents in the resulting tribunal show the Discord contained both: working conditions, and at least one specific unannounced feature of the next game. 34 people were dismissed, 31 at Rockstar North and 3 at Rockstar Toronto. | The IWGB union, October 2025, against Rockstar’s own account | Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain | 30.10.2025 | Wide | Reported |
| The GTA 6 trailer holds the record for the most-viewed trailer Trailer 2’s 24-hour record was surpassed in March 2026 by Spider-Man: Brand New Day, at over 500 million views in 12 hours. The other numbers are real but constantly conflated: Variety reported on 7 August 2026 that Trailer 1 had 288 million YouTube views since December 2023 and Trailer 2 had 176 million since May 2025. Lifetime views, 24-hour views and cross-platform views are three different measurements, and headlines swap them freely. | True when first reported, repeated after it stopped being true | Coverage of Trailer 2, May 2025 | 06.05.2025 | Wide | Rumour |
| Netflix paid about 80 million dollars for the Extended Look Variety covered the partnership and quotes Take-Two’s chief executive on it, but carries no fee. We read that piece again on 11 September 2026 and there is no figure in it. Strauss Zelnick did say of Netflix, "last time I checked, I think Netflix had 200 million subscribers. I’m guessing all 200 million of them are going to be watching", which Variety corrected in line: Netflix reported over 325 million subscribers at the end of 2025. The deal is real. The price is a number with no source attached, and we had repeated it in our own notes until this check. | Unattributed. We could not find it in any source we read | No traceable first source | 27.08.2026 | Moderate | Rumour |
| GTA 6 will be delayed a fourth time York said "straight up, they could delay it again", and also said in the same breath that he does not work there now and cannot speak from current knowledge. He then put it beyond doubt on X: "Just so we are clear, I don’t think they will delay it again. But I also said I wouldn’t be surprised if they did." That second sentence is the one the headlines dropped. The track record is real, though: the game has moved twice, from 2025 to 26 May 2026 to 19 November 2026, and in March 2024 Take-Two denied a delay report that turned out to be right. Much of the coverage says three, including ours until 12 September 2026; the third is the March 2024 delay report, which was journalism rather than a change of date. What cuts the other way is that a studio does not start a marketing push three months out, and the rest of the industry is now rescheduling around 19 November. | An interview with a former Rockstar animator, relayed by aggregators | Mike York, animator on GTA V, to Indy100 | 14.08.2026 | Wide | Rumour |
| The base game costs 100 dollars Ball wrote that "some gamemakers hope GTA 6 will be priced at $80 to $100", which is a sentence about what other people hope. IGN said so in the same article that reported it: "Ball’s report doesn’t make the direct claim that GTA 6 will cost $100." The headline dropped the hedge anyway. The outcome, checked on Sony’s store on 11 September 2026: Standard 79.99, Ultimate 99.99. Both camps were wrong, including the analysts who said 70 was the ceiling. | A slide in an analyst presentation, January 2025 | Matthew Ball, Epyllion, quoted by IGN | 16.01.2025 | Wide | Rumour |
| The map is three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2 Rockstar has never put a number on the map. Rob Nelson, co-studio head of Rockstar North, told IGN only that "it’s a big map, a very big map" and that the goal was "the largest, deepest, most densely populated and complex world we have ever built". Every multiplier in circulation traces to one briefing, and the 2x GTA V and 3x RDR2 figures only reconcile if GTA V is bigger than RDR2, which nobody has sourced. No square kilometre figure exists anywhere. | A creator briefing at Rockstar North, relayed second-hand | YouTuber TGG, after a studio visit | 27.08.2026 | Wide | Reported |
| Development cost two billion dollars Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has ever published a budget for a single title. The figure traces to stolen material rather than to a filing. For scale: GTA V is estimated at about 333 million in 2024 terms, of which roughly 137 million was development; Red Dead Redemption 2 at around 540 million; Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War at around 700 million. The rumour also conflates marketing with development, and marketing is unbounded. | The September 2022 breach, laundered through aggregators | Unattributed, traced back to hacked material | 18.09.2022 | Wide | Rumour |
| RAGE:MP has shut down, leaving FiveM as the only GTA multiplayer platform The announcement is real and it set dates: the server listing closing on 1 June 2026 and platform end of support on 31 August 2026. The outcome did not follow. We checked the listing on 11 September 2026, eleven days after that deadline, and it reported 134 servers online with 14,349 players and a peak of 90,815. Re-read on 12 September at 11:30 UTC: 143 servers and 25,413 players. What the 12 September list shows, and nobody reports, is that the English part of it is gone: 13 English-tagged servers hold 233 players between them against 21,801 on Russian-tagged servers, and a single server, Nexus RP Georgia, holds 229 of those 233. alt:V, shut down on 6 July 2026, does check out: its site returns a gateway error. So the claim is half true, and the half that is false is the half everyone repeats. Re-read on 17 October 2026 at 11:43 UTC, seven weeks past the deadline: 83 servers and 20,796 players, peak unchanged at 90,815. The language split was not recounted on that date. | RAGE:MP’s own forum announcement of 25 May 2026 | RAGE:MP administration | 25.05.2026 | Moderate | Reported |
