Is there a GTA 6 PC version, and when could it realistically land

The word PC appears nowhere on Rockstar's product page, in its Newswire, or in Take-Two's press archive. Everything after that sentence is precedent, arithmetic and one date with no source behind it.

There is no announced PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI. That is the entire confirmed part of this subject, and it has not moved since the game was announced.

The product page at rockstargames.com/VI names two platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. A full text extraction on 29 August 2026 returned 134 unique lines, none containing “PC”, “Windows”, “Steam” or “Epic” in a platform sense. The Newswire post of 24 June 2026 puts it in one sentence: “Grand Theft Auto VI is a single player experience, coming November 19 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.”

The absence is a choice, and it is measurable

Take-Two publishes a product pipeline table with every quarterly result. The table published on 7 August 2026 lists Grand Theft Auto VI as PS5 and Xbox Series X and S, 19 November 2026. The same table names PC explicitly for two other titles, a GTA Online summer update released on 14 July 2026 and NBA 2K27 on 4 September 2026. The omission sits inside a regulated disclosure that demonstrably knows how to write the word.

The rest of the negative space measures the same way. Steam returned no Grand Theft Auto VI entry on 29 August 2026, not even a coming-soon shell. PEGI’s database answered “Found 0 results from your query” on the same day. Nobody with standing has published a minimum or recommended PC spec, which means every circulating requirements list is invented. No job title among Rockstar’s 67 public openings on that date named a PC port, Windows, or a PC platform team, and Rockstar Toronto, the studio that did the additional work on the Grand Theft Auto IV Windows version, had openings only in art, IT, online services and security.

What executives have said, and what they have not

In none of the four Strauss Zelnick appearances checked for this piece does he say there is no PC version. He has said console comes first: “Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you’re judged by serving the core.” In the same interview, reported on 4 May 2026, he put the commercial stake plainly: “Now with regard to a big title, PC can be 45, 50% of the sales.”

That is an argument about order, not about existence. Former Rockstar producer John Ricchio described the same engineering logic: “It’s always better to start with the constraints and then extend. Because shrinking is a lot harder than extending.” At a TD Cowen conference in May 2024 Zelnick was reported as saying the lack of an announcement was not something set in stone.

None of that is a date. Take-Two has never given a PC window in any regulated filing.

What the port history supports

Rockstar’s console-to-PC gaps are documented and uneven.

TitleConsole launchWindowsGap
Max Payne 315 May 201229 May 201214 days
Vice City29 October 200213 May 2003196 days
Grand Theft Auto IV29 April 20082 December 2008217 days
Red Dead Redemption 226 October 20185 November 2019375 days
Grand Theft Auto V17 September 201314 April 2015574 days
Red Dead Redemption18 May 201029 October 20245,278 days

Across twelve measured non-zero cases the median gap is 220.5 days, about 7.2 months. Counted from 19 November 2026, that median lands on 28 June 2027, the Red Dead Redemption 2 gap on 29 November 2027, and the GTA V gap on 15 June 2028.

Those are projections, not schedules. The honest reading is mid-2027 at the earliest, late 2027 to 2028 as the central expectation, and real weight past 2028 if Rockstar lines a PC release up with next-generation consoles or with whatever succeeds GTA Online. PC Gamer’s standing position, updated 28 August 2026, is that a PC date “likely won’t be before November 2027”.

Why February 2027 is not a date

The February 2027 figure traces to a single social media account, and no outlet reachable in our verification pass carried it with attribution. It is also awkward against the one hard constraint available: Take-Two’s fiscal 2027 ends on 31 March 2027, and its guided pipeline through that date contains no GTA VI PC entry. A February release would require a SKU the publisher has not guided.

Rockstar’s own announce-to-ship precedent is one to four months, with GTA V the exception, announced in June 2014 and then slipped repeatedly. Grand Theft Auto IV PC was announced in August 2008 and shipped that December. Red Dead Redemption 2 PC was announced on 4 October 2019 and shipped a month later. That gives a testable trigger rather than a feeling: if no PC announcement exists by roughly 31 March 2027, a 2027 PC release becomes improbable on Rockstar’s own record.

The first quarter of 2027 report

On 13 October 2026 GamesBeat published a different claim with a better origin. It wrote that Rockstar plans to release the PC version in the first quarter of 2027, “according to four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans, all of whom requested anonymity to avoid damaging business relationships.” Rockstar did not respond before publication, and as of 17 October 2026 we found nothing from Rockstar or Take-Two on it.

This is not the February post with a new coat of paint. It has a named publication standing behind it, which is what moves a claim from rumour to reported on our scale, and the register now carries it as its own entry. It still runs into the same wall as February: the first calendar quarter of 2027 falls inside Take-Two’s fiscal 2027, and the pipeline table published on 7 August 2026 has no GTA VI PC entry for that year. Either the report is ahead of the publisher’s own guidance, or a later table will change.

That makes the next checkpoint a date rather than a feeling. Take-Two reports its second quarter on Monday 9 November 2026, after the market close, with the call at 4:30 pm Eastern. A PC row in that pipeline table would confirm that a PC version exists in the publisher’s plans; it would not by itself confirm the quarter. Its absence would not kill the report either: 9 November is 53 days before the first quarter of 2027 opens, and Rockstar’s own announce-to-ship gaps, set out above, run from one to four months.

One correction belongs here. A development build running on PC is not a PC release. As PC Gamer put it after the August 2026 leak wave, “the idea that a PC build exists doesn’t really tell us much. It’ll be being developed on PC, of course, as that’s the platform on which most games are made.” What does not exist is an official, public PC release, so any download offered as GTA 6 for Windows is not one: at best a fake, at worst malware. One 113 GB torrent circulating in August 2026 was analyzed as a 50 KB payload padded with zeroes.

What would actually move this

In order of strength: a PC row in Take-Two’s quarterly pipeline table, a Rockstar Newswire post naming PC, a Steam or Epic product entry appearing even if hidden from search, a Windows entry in a ratings board database, or a Rockstar Games Launcher datamine carrying GTA 6 build metadata. That last channel has two documented hits, the 2021 remastered trilogy and the 2024 Red Dead Redemption PC port. Its one GTA 6 find, an “Americas” folder in a September 2024 launcher update, has produced nothing since.

Why this decides roleplay

Every roleplay framework hooks a Windows installation. No PC version means no modding surface and no dedicated server client, so the GTA 6 PC date is also the earliest possible GTA 6 roleplay date. That is the first of exactly two dependencies, and both are tracked with dates on the roleplay hub. The mechanism behind them, what a Covered Game designation is and what would have to be built, is in what has to happen before FiveM could support GTA 6.

If GTA 6 reaches PC in mid-2027, the scene migrates across 2027 and 2028. If it lands in 2028 or later, GTA V roleplay remains the entire market for years. Today the answer is not a range we are willing to defend as a finding. It is that nobody outside Rockstar knows.
