The GTA 6 launch trailer, and the five things Rockstar put in writing
Rockstar released the launch trailer on 15 October 2026 and restated 19 November in the same post. Here is what the post says word for word, what it leaves out, and the dates to watch before release.
Rockstar released the Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer on 15 October 2026, five weeks before release. The Newswire post that carried it ends on one sentence: “Grand Theft Auto VI arrives November 19 to PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S.”
That sentence is the news. The date has moved twice before, from 2025 to May 2026 and then to November 2026. Our reading, and it is a reading rather than a fact: a trailer labelled “launch”, five weeks out, with the date in writing beside it, is the firmest public commitment to the date so far. The restatement matters more than the footage.
What the post puts in writing
Five things, all on the launch trailer post itself:
- The date. 19 November 2026, in the closing line quoted above.
- The platforms. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the same two named on the product page and in the June pre-order post. No third platform, no PC.
- The music. The trailer features new music from Justice, “composers of the original score from Grand Theft Auto VI”. The single is “Flower in a Hurricane” featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and it is on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album.
- The setup. The post opens on “Vice City, USA.” and the familiar premise: Jason and Lucia, “an easy score goes wrong”, and “a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida”. Take-Two prints the same paragraph under “About Grand Theft Auto VI” in its press releases.
- The rating. The post carries the ESRB block: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and Alcohol, with In-Game Purchases. The ESRB listing, read on 17 October 2026, rates the game M for Mature 17+ and names two platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
What it does not say
The post is short, and the gaps are as informative as the text.
- No PC. Not in the post, not on the product page, and the ESRB listing does not name PC either.
- No online mode. The post does not mention one. The separate question of whether an online service is planned at all is answered by Rockstar’s own court filing, which is a different thing from a launch feature.
- No install size and no unlock hour. As of 17 October 2026 we found neither on Rockstar’s or Take-Two’s pages. Our unlock table is still a model, and it says so.
- No capture line. The text of the post does not say what hardware the trailer was captured on. Claims that it was a standard PlayStation 5 rather than a Pro are circulating, and for this trailer we have not read that on a Rockstar or Take-Two page, so we do not repeat it as fact. For the August Extended Look Rockstar did put it in writing, which we covered at the time.
What the post links to
Under the trailer, the Newswire links four earlier Grand Theft Auto VI posts: the album announcement of 17 September, the Goodtime State collector’s box of 24 September, and two on 8 October, the in-game radio stations and a Rockstar Store collection.
The dates to watch before release
| Date | What | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 9 November | Take-Two reports its second quarter, call at 4:30 pm Eastern | Take-Two |
| 12 November | Preload opens for digital pre-orders, and the boxed edition, which holds a download code, goes on sale | Take-Two |
| 19 November | Release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S | Rockstar |
The 9 November results are the next scheduled point where the publisher could say more about anything beyond launch. They come four weeks after GamesBeat reported, from four unnamed sources, that the PC version is planned for the first quarter of 2027. That report is now a separate entry in our register, graded reported rather than confirmed, and the full picture is in is there a GTA 6 PC version.
The preload date is not a rumour any more, and it never needed to be one. Take-Two’s own pre-order release said in June that digital pre-orders “will be able to begin pre-loading on November 12, 2026”. Our register called it reported until 17 October 2026, which was our miss, and the change log says so.
